Easy Face Painting Designs : Butterfly
This butterfly design is a perfect design for young kids as it doesn't take a lot of skill or time. Its great for people who are learning to face paint as it contains a few simple shapes.
Step 1 - First of all you need to choose two base colours for the butterfly. This can be decided by you to match the clients clothes or the client can choose the colours they want. After you have decided on the colours you then apply the first colour to the eyelids using a sponge. Applying it in a rounded shape up towards the eyebrows. Also below the eye in a rounded shape. Then go in with the second colour and out line the shape but make sure it still looks rounded. Do this on the top and the bottom of the eye and then get a dry sponge and blend the colours together so that it creates an ombre like design.
Step 2 - Then dip into your black face paint and start by by doing a large teardrop starting from the top of the second colour to the top of the eyebrow. Then drag the face paint down and round the edge of the colour to outline the wings, flicking in 3 times to give the wings dimension. Next grab a dry brush and blend out the black paint towards the eye so that it doesn't look so harsh.
Step 3 - To do the bottom wing do a large teardrop from the corner of the eye downwards. Then outline the bottom second colour and flick in at the corner of the eye.
Step 4 - To complete the butterfly design you need to do the body of the butterfly. This is very simple, first do a line down the centre of the nose from the top to the middle. Then leave a small gap above the line and do to large teardrop shapes, curving away from each other.
Step 5 - This is the final step. You need to go in with the white and do different size dots as this really pulls the look together and it gives you the chance to cover up any mistakes you may have made. Then if your client wants you can go over with a little bit of glitter. Make sure this glitter is safe to use on skin and doesn't contain glass. Glitter probably isn't the best idea for younger clients as they tend to accidentally get it in there eyes.
Then you have completed the design.
